A Problem Worth Solving
In India, millions of apartment buildings have rooftop solar installations. But there's a fundamental problem: the solar energy only benefits common areas like stairwells, lobbies, and parking lots. Individual apartments - the people who actually live in the building - see no direct benefit.
The challenge isn't generating solar energy. It's distributing it. How do you fairly divide rooftop solar output among dozens or hundreds of individual units, each with different consumption patterns, while maintaining accurate metering and billing?
That's the question that led to the creation of the Smart Power Distribution Unit (SPDU)- a purpose-built device that connects between solar panels and individual apartment meters, enabling precise, metered distribution of solar energy to every unit in a building.

After graduating in Civil Engineering from UWA, Australia, Rahul Rajan innovated the SPDU technology in his construction project: Scorpio – Fortune Estates. Following its universal acclaim and awards, he spun off Protostar Technologies to bring this breakthrough technology to existing residential societies.

Chetan Visal is an experienced Solar PV engineer with 15 years of experience in the field. His past projects span across various sectors in the field and his constant pursuit of new technologies and installation optimization caters to the company's goals and vision of democratizing solar.
